Intermittent Pulsed Light - Proven Dry Eye Relief
Proven Relief for dry eyes
Experience relief from dry eyes with Intense Pulsed Light (IPL) Therapy – a non-invasive, clinically proven treatment designed to target the root cause of your discomfort. IPL therapy works by reducing inflammation, improving meibomian gland function, and restoring the natural oil layer of your tears, helping to prevent evaporation and keep your eyes hydrated. With lasting results and minimal downtime, IPL is an effective solution for those suffering from meibomian gland dysfunction and chronic dry eyes.
Proven Efficiency
First developed in 2001 and supported by a wealth of clinical research, IPL is a proven therapy for dry eyes, bringing a clincally demonstrated improvement in symptoms.
In randomised studies, IPL has been show to improve patient’s symptoms and improve the quality of the meibomian secretions and the number of functional meibomian glands.
Studies have demonstrated that IPL can improve tear film stability and reduce symptoms by targeting the abnormal blood vessels and inflammatory mediators contributing to MGD. The light energy from IPL heats and liquefies stagnant meibum in the meibomian glands, facilitating their proper function. Clinical trials and meta-analyses have reported significant improvements in tear break-up time, meibomian gland secretion quality, and overall patient-reported symptoms following IPL treatments. Additionally, IPL has been shown to reduce levels of inflammatory cytokines and demodex mites, which are often implicated in ocular surface inflammation
safe and effective treatment
IPL is safe and well-tolerated procedure. The eyes are protected with goggles and side effects are rare.
A full treatment cycle consists of four treatments over 2 months although many patients will experience an improvement in their dry eye after the first treatment.
It is usual to experience some redness, swelling or crusting for a few days following the procedure. It is important to protect the skin with high SPF suncream for 2 weeks after the procedure.
