Vaccinated! The beginning of the end?!

I was very fortunate to have received the first dose of the Pfzer-BioNTech vaccine on Friday. The whole operation @glohospitals was very slick indeed and I was incredibly well looked after throughout.

The development of mRNA vaccines is an exciting step in medicine and opens up new avenues in medicine beyond vaccination, including the treatment of cancer. An mRNA vaccine works by temporarily asking your own cells to make the protein which you want the immune system to recognise; in this case, the spike protein on the surface of the Coronavirus.

The numbers of coronavirus patients are far beyond that of the first wave and there is very little doubt that there is a long road back to normal. It was more than a little bit exciting to be there at the beginning of the end.
